Chris Carithers

Humanities Educator

Chris received a BA in English Literature from Colorado College and a M.Ed. from Colorado University in Boulder.  He taught at Mapleton Expeditionary School of the Arts (MESA) in Thornton, CO from 2006-2010 as a Humanities Teacher. At Mapleton, he also became a Master Teacher, a role in which he trained and mentored all new teachers for their first two years.  He was an Instructor Trainer and Safety & Training Director at Outward Bound School from 1997-2006.  He has been with Watershed School since 2010 as a Humanities Educator, Dean of Faculty, and Interim Head of School.   Chris has led 14 day, 22 day and semester long courses in California, Oregon and Washington and taught advanced rock climbing, canoeing, white water rafting, mountaining, glacier travel, desert trekking and sea kayaking. 

From Seattle, WA, he is married to another English teacher, and they have two daughters, River and Stella. Chris enjoys skating, skiing, cycling, fly fishing and microarchitecture.
