Katie Wise

Music & Theater Educator

Katie earned her BA in Theatre Performance from the Claremont Colleges, studying at Scripps College and Pomona College, and continued her training at the London Academy of Dramatic Art, The Groundlings, iO West, and the John Ruskin School of Acting. For more than twenty years, she has taught voice, songwriting, improvisation, yoga, and creative expression to children and adults. She has led workshops, retreats, and teacher trainings throughout the United States and internationally, and is the founder of Song of Your Soul, a voice and songwriting program that helps people develop confidence and discover their authentic voices through performance rooted in presence, connection, and creativity.

Katie’s career has followed an unconventional path, weaving together professional theatre, music, education, entrepreneurship, wellness, and international travel. She spent a decade working as a professional actor and improviser in Los Angeles, appeared in television and film, and was the national voice of Jenny Craig for four years. She later founded and operated two successful yoga studios in Santa Monica and Boulder before returning to music full-time as an award-winning singer-songwriter, educator, and performer. Today she tours nationally and internationally with her band, Bhakti Explosion, which performs regularly at Boulder favorites including eTown Hall. She also performs improvised musical comedy with On the Spot Cabaret, where she occasionally appears as her mischievous alter ego, Samantha Trouble.

Throughout her career, she has built creative communities through yoga studios, teacher trainings, songwriting circles, choirs, workshops, and collaborative performances. She and her husband, John, spent nine months traveling through nine countries with their two children as digital nomads, combining music, worldschooling, and cultural immersion into an unforgettable family adventure. Today they live in Nyland CoHousing in Lafayette, where they host house concerts featuring touring musicians, tend the garden, and share life with their two creative teenagers and two very large cats. Katie is thrilled to join the Watershed community and looks forward to helping students discover their strengths, take creative risks, experience the joy of making art together, and launch the Watershed Theatre Company as a vibrant home for collaboration, creativity, and performance.
