303-440-5720 ext. 112
KC has a BA in Social Psychology from Carleton College, a Masters in Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a Masters in Social Work from Smith School for Social Work. Before becoming the Director of Social/Emotional Learning at Watershed School, she spent thirteen years at Riverdale Country School (in the Bronx, NY) as a Counselor, Health Teacher, and Member of the Community Engagement and Admissions Teams.
KC has traveled to Canada, Mexico, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Spain, Italy France, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Jamaica.
KC was born and raised in New York City, and credits her love of hiking and the outdoors to her fifteen-plus summers spent at camp in rural New Hampshire--as a camper, counselor, and director of the Counselor in Training program. It was there that she also discovered her passion for working with adolescents. She graduated with a BA in a self-designed social psychology program at Carleton College, and went on soon after to volunteer with homeless youth in Zimbabwe. After working with under-served youth abroad, and at various group homes in Massachusetts and New York, she sought out two degrees (education and social work) that would allow her to best support youth in school settings, as she enjoys working as part of a system within a community. She is an avid runner with 23 marathons under her belt and met her husband in Colorado at the TransRockies six-day race across the Rocky Mountains. She also loves to cook, bake, dance, attempt creative endeavors, learn about and spend time with communities of all types (the anthropologist in her), participate in social justice-related movements, and hang out and love-up with her 21-month old daughter, Riley.
