Dear members of the Watershed community,
We are writing to share an exciting update regarding our leadership transition, as we prepare for Tim’s departure in June 2026. After seeking input from our faculty and staff, and in partnership with our search consultants, the Board has determined that appointing an Interim Head of School for the 2026-27 school year will best serve our community.
We are thrilled to announce that the Board voted unanimously to appoint Tracy Halgren, Director of Operations, as the school’s Interim Head, starting on July 1, 2026.
Few people know and value Watershed as deeply as Tracy does. As a parent of two alums, a former trustee and Board chair, and a current member of the school’s Leadership Team, Tracy’s transition will be seamless and well-supported. We shared this news with faculty and staff earlier today, and they share our enthusiasm for and confidence in Tracy’s leadership.
In accepting this role, Tracy shared, “I'm thrilled to step into the role of interim head, building on my deep connection to Watershed. Having experienced this community through so many different lenses—from the WPA to the boardroom to daily operations—I feel uniquely prepared to support our students, staff, and families during this transition. I'm excited by the opportunity to help guide a school that has given so much to my own family and that inspires students to approach the world with both curiosity and the courage to make a real impact.”
We anticipate launching the search for Watershed’s next permanent Head of School in the late spring, which provides ample time for candidate recruitment and vetting. We will share more information about that timeline and process as we move forward.
We are grateful for Tim’s service to Watershed over the past seven and a half years, and look forward to his leadership for the rest of the school year. The Board will partner with Tim and Tracy on a transition plan which will include consistent collaboration and preparation in the months ahead. In the meantime, please join me in congratulating Tracy and sharing our gratitude for her service to Watershed.
The future is bright for Watershed and the Board of Trustees is excited to partner with Tracy and the Leadership Team in continuing to make it an even more exceptional community and school.
